More than 500 athletes from different countries have already confirmed participation at the Sirikwa Classic Cross-country and here's why they should be excited ahead of the event.
The Sirikwa Classic Cross-country has attracted more than 500 athletes who will be out to showcase their skills on February 3, in Lobo Village, Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
What makes the event more exciting is that the prize money for the event has been increased to Ksh 15,239,000 with the junior men and women taking home a combined kitty of Ksh 2,128,000.
Ksh 9,216,000 has been set aside for the senior men and women while the People living with disabilities will walk away with Ksh 400,000.

Track and field enthusiasts are in for a big treat after World Athletics signed a sponsorship deal with a leading entertainment firm that aims to generate emotion-filled experiences for sports fans across the globe.

During the launch of the event at the Lobo Village on Wednesday, race director Barnaba Korir said the organisers are projecting increased entries with just over a week until the competition.
Athletes from Poland, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Norway, Japan, Uganda, Belgium, Great Britain and Germany have confirmed participation for the one-day event.
In a post on his Facebook page, Korir said: “With more than 500 athletes having already signed up for the Sirikwa Classic Cross-Country Tour, we are still expecting more entries ahead of the event set for February 3 in Lobo Village, Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
“Glad to have joined Uasin Gishu Governor H.E Jonathan Bii, AK president Lt Gen (Rtd) Jackson Tuwei and the LOC during the official launch of the 3rd edition of the event earlier today in Eldoret.
“We are grateful to the Ministry of Sports and other sponsors who have supported us as we gear towards hosting a memorable event.”
