The mantle has now been left for Commonwealth Games champion Abraham Kibiwott, Leonard Bett, and Simon Koech, who is yet to hit the qualifying time.
Two-time World champion Conseslus Kipruto will not be making his appearance at this year’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary scheduled for August 19 to 27.
This will be the first time he misses out on the ticket to the global event since he made his debut during the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Russia. Kipruto had been invited to the World Championships National Trials that concluded on Saturday and he honoured the call.

The marathon team had already been selected earlier and it includes Titus Kipruto and Rosemary Wanjiru among others.

“I hit a barrier and the pain on my knee got really painful making it difficult for me to continue - it’s back to training now,” Kipruto said, according to a Twitter post by Lynne Wachira.
The fact that he did not finish the race and he lacked a wild card meant that he could not make Team Kenya the global event. The mantle has now been left for Commonwealth Games champion Abraham Kibiwott, Leonard Bett, and Simon Koech, who is yet to hit the qualifying time.
Meanwhile, the 2019 Olympic champion has been one of the most talented steeplechasers in the country for the longest time.
