At the moment, Kipchoge is eyeing his third Olympic title and fifth Berlin Marathon title.

World marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has revealed he will continue running recreationally even when he hangs his spikes.

Kipchoge, 38, added that he wants to be an inspiration to the younger generation and ensure that he leaves a legacy in the sport.

The four-time London Marathon champion noted that he does not know when retirement will come but he is certain that he is ready for the challenge.

“Time will come for me to hang the racing shoes and move on to the next life of making this world a running world…that’s in my mind. I don’t know when that time will come but I’m ready. I will still run even in the big city marathons to inspire the next generation,” Kipchoge told Al Ja Zeera.

The two-time Olympic champion has numerous achievements in his career thus far and he does not seem to be resting on his laurels any time soon as he eyes his third Olympic title and fifth Berlin Marathon title.

“The future is good for me…next year I trust I will be on the starting line for the Paris Olympics,” he said.

Concerning his return to Berlin, Kipchoge said: “My run has taken me across the world, along the way when you look around, there are ups and down but the path is beautiful. And right now, I run towards Paris 2024 but to achieve what inspires me in Paris, I must return to my special place. Back to Berlin.”
