Thanks to her fast running prowess, Anyango is now the second fastest woman over the 10km distance, owing to her scintillating run at the 10K Valencia Ibercaja. She clocked 28:57 behind now-world record holder Agnes Ngetich.
“I don’t like running slowly because there is no time to pamper my competitors because running with the pace of others might just make you a sacrificial lamb. So, when you start the race, just keep going and don’t look back,” Anyango said.
At the moment, the 23-year-old is sharpening her talons as she seeks to represent the country at the upcoming World Cross-country Championships in Belgrade, Serbia.
“My secret is to train hard and I would advise my fellow athletes to love training as much as they love ugali,” Anyango added.
Anyango also disclosed that she just found herself running and she loved every bit of it, so she decided to go professional.
