Despite showing mastery in the one-lap race, Letsile Tebogo has explained why he will not switch to the 400m anytime soon.
Reigning world 100m silver medallist Letsile Tebogo has shown his prowess in the 400m which has led to questions on whether he has plans to switch to the one-lap race soon.
The Botswanan youngster opened his season with a 400m personal best time of 44.29 at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix 2 in South Africa before leading his team to victory in the 4x400m relay at the World Athletics Relays in the Bahamas.

Noah Lyles irked by 'lack of boundaries' at World Athletics Relays
Triple World champion Noah Lyles has expressed what disappointed him the most at the just concluded World Athletics Relays.
At the World Athletics Relays, Tebogo impressed, running a sub-44 twice in just over 24 hours. Across 16 races (prelims, finals, and repechage of the men’s 4 x 400 and mixed 4 x 400), Tebogo had two of the three fastest splits.

However, the 20-year-old still feels like he wants to enjoy the 100m and 200m, where he won a silver and bronze medal respectively at last year’s World Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
“I will be tempted to move maybe in a couple of years. Not now. It’s very fun in the 100 and the 200. The 400 is very painful. No child’s play,” Tebogo said.
Meanwhile, the double World Under-20 champion started his 2024 season with a 300m world best, running faster than Michael Johnson and Usain Bolt. He was also in action in the 200m at the ASA Athletics Grand Prix 3 where he finished first before finishing second at the Kip Keino Classic behind American Lindsey Courtney.
Just like any other athlete this season, his main focus will be on the Olympic Games in Paris, France where he wants to double in the 100m and 200m and hinted at competing in the 4x400m relay if needed.
However, he has also made it clear that his focus is not on the world records and people should not pressurise him concerning the same.
