Canadian Ethan Katzberg, the reigning world hammer throw champion will be returning to the Kip Keino Classic this year.

Commonwealth Games 800m champion Mary Moraa is excited about the coming of Canadian hammer thrower Ethan Katzberg to the Kip Keino Classic.

Moraa expressed her excitement, sharing on her Facebook page, and explained that it’s high time Kenyan hammer throwers get to learn from the 22-year-old World champion.

“Now, this is a big one! Time for Kenyan hammer throwers to learn and compete with the reigning world hammer throw champion, Canadian Ethan Katzberg.

“The Canadian will be showcasing his incredible skills at the Kip Keino Classic Continental Tour. Don't miss the chance to witness this champion in action,” Moraa said in the post.

Meanwhile, the Canadian will be returning to the event with ambitious plans this time around after finishing second during last year’s edition of the event.

After last year’s Kip Keino Classic, Katzberg competed in a series of events including the USTAF Los Angeles Grand Prix where he finished third in the final and proceeded to the Diamond League Meeting in Paris where he also impressed with a win.

His highlight of the year was winning the world title, just 21 at the time and as this year’s Paris Olympic Games loom, he is all set as he eyes the Kip Keino Classic to propel him to greater heights.

As Moraa emphasised, his return will also be an opportunity for Kenyan hammer throwers to get skills and learn from one of the best if not the best.

So far, Botswanan wunderkind Letsile Tebogo, Moraa, Anita Włodarczyk, and Africa’s fastest man are the other athletes who have been confirmed for the continental showpiece scheduled for Saturday, April 20.
