World pole vault record holder Mondo Duplantis was planning to race five-time World 100m champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce but he would prefer to race reigning champion Sha’Carri Richardson.
The youngster and Fraser-Pryce were supposed to race before the season ends but the Jamaican has been out for the better part of the season due to an injury setback.

FOOTBALL How Gor Mahia players and staff lost phones and cash at Kasarani Stadium dressing room
Gor Mahia players and staff had their celebrations cut short when they found their valuables missing after thrashing Nairobi City Stars at Kasarani Stadium on Sunday.
When asked if he would race Richardson instead, Duplantis said they do not have much beef but it would be really nice competing against her.
“That is a good one but we don’t have much beef…we are actually quite good friends. But that could be actually pretty cool.
I hadn’t even thought about that but that even makes so much more sense racing against Sha’Carri but we’ll see,” he said.
The two have known each other since they were freshmen at LSU and they share a special relationship.
The duo has also had a great season thus far, especially for Duplantis, who has been unbeaten so far and he just set a new world record at the Prefontaine Classic on Sunday night.
On her part, the American has been in impeccable form, losing only two races, to end her season on a high note. When the two take it to the track, it is almost evident who will win the race but it will definitely promise to be a thrilling show.
