Noah Lyles finished second behind Christian Coleman at the Prefontaine Classic but he is not disappointed in the result.

Double World champion Noah Lyles finished second in the men’s 100m race at the Prefontaine Classic on Saturday night but he is not disappointed about that despite it being his first loss of the season.

It is every athlete’s hope to end the season on a high but this time around, things were different for Lyles as he finished second behind compatriot Christian Coleman.

Coleman equaled his world-leading time of 9.83 to cross the finish line ahead of Lyles and Africa’s fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala who both clocked 9.85.

After the race, Lyles posted on his Twitter page saying: “Yoh! I just realized 9.85 is my second fastest time ever in the 100m. Next year going to be scary.”

The tweet is proof that the 26-year-old is not shaken by the loss and he keeps his head up as he eyes next year’s Paris Olympic Games.

In a pre-race interview, he had also noted that the race was not that important for him since he had bagged the most important titles in his career. He added that the race was his victory lap and he believes he surely did that.

“I felt like I still had one more race in me and I decided to come out and do my victory lap since it’s after the World Championships and everyone is always most likely tired.

But it doesn’t matter if I win or lose since I have already won the World Championships and nobody can take that from me,” he said.
