Sha’Carri Richardson’s training mate Alana Reid has opened up on drawing inspiration from multiple World champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce.
Reid joined Richardson’s training group, the Star Athletics Track Club in Florida late last year and she opened up about how she is learning a lot from the American but recently, she opened up on drawing inspiration from her compatriot, Fraser-Pryce.
During an interview with Track Alerts, the junior 100m record holder disclosed that Richardson has been of great help and she has been learning a lot from her. She said: “It is a good feeling being around her (Richardson). She teaches me a lot and she shows me a lot of stuff."

She might be training with the fastest woman in the world but it’s her compatriot Fraser-Pryce who has had a huge influence on her budding sprinting career.

For an exceptional 2023 season, Sha'Carri Richardson and Shericka Jackson are the highest-ranked female sprinters of the 2023 season.
“Last year, I had myself watching all the videos of Shelly-Ann. (I was watching her videos) just to look at her running technique, her form, how she does this... I mainly focus myself not to be like a person, but to follow in their footsteps,” she disclosed.
The youngster’s dream is to make the cut to the Jamaican national team at the Olympic Games in Paris, France.
“My dream is to go to Paris. I’m working towards going to Paris and I’ll do everything in my power to make sure I do my best going into the trials to be selected to go to Paris. I’m chasing that dream so it’s just for me to stay focused in training,” she said.
