Tobi Amusan lost to Olympic champion Camacho-Quinn and World Record holder Devynne Charlton at the Xiamen Diamond League. Should this be a cause for concern?
The much-anticipated women's 100m Hurdles event at the Xiamen Diamond League lived up to the hype as Olympic champion Jasmine Camacho-Quinn reigned supreme over her rivals Devynne Charlton and Tobi Amusan.
Camacho-Quinn, running in her first hurdle race of the year, recovered smoothly after a poor start for an outright win in a Season's Best (SB) and Meeting Record (MR) of 12.45s, ahead of newly crowned world 60m champion and record holder Charlton in 12.49s.
Cyrena Samba-Mayela clocked a French National Record of 12.55s to place third, as world champion Danielle Williams finished fourth in 12.56s, edging Amusan to fifth position in 12.58s.
The fast times clocked by all women in their first outdoor hurdle race of the season prove again how competitive the event is and what to expect this Olympic year.
Also, will Amusan's World Record (WR) of 12.12s survive this year? This is because the women aren't just looking at breaking the record but making history by going sub-12s to become the undisputed queen of the sprint hurdles.

Torrie Lewis: 19-year-old Australian wunderkind stuns Sha'Carri Richardson at Xiamen Diamond League
Aussie sprint younster Torrie Lewis defeated Sha'Carri Richardson in her first race of the season at Xiamen Diamond League.
With the season still a long one before the Olympic Games, these times will assuredly be lowered by each athlete in their subsequent races, and it bodes for exciting match-ups between the women as always.
Consequently, despite finishing outside the top three positions in Xiamen, Amusan is known to get faster in the build-up to a major championship.
And with her record at stake, as well as targeting her first Olympic medal and winning her fourth Diamond League title, Amusan will be aiming for a comeback revenge against her bitter rivals when it matters most.
