William Rutto has been confirmed as one of the leading entrants in the Gran Canaria Maspalomas Marathon in Spain.
Reigning Santa Eularia Ibiza Marathon champion William Rutto is one of the leading entrants in the third edition of the Gran Canaria Maspalomas Marathon in Spain set to take place on Sunday, November 19.
Rutto will be making a return to one of his favourite courses, having won the race during the 2021 edition and he will be keen to replicate the same performance.

Mary Ngugi has shared her disappointment towards her fifth-place finish at the New York City Marathon and has promised to do better next season.
He lines up for the race with a Personal Best time of 2:11:31, a time he clocked when finishing sixth at the 2017 edition of the Zhengzhou Marathon.

The race organisers were thrilled to announce the return of the champion and posted on their X (formerly Twitter) handle saying: “The 2021 champion returns. Kenyan William Cheboi Rutto has confirmed his presence for this third edition of the Gran Canaria Maspalomas Marathon.”

Ferdinand Omanyala has joined Noah Lyles among other elite athletes as the team Visa's newest Global Brand Ambassador.
Rutto has competed in two marathons so far this year and this will be the third. He opened his season with an 11th-place finish at the Riyadh Marathon, clocking 2:22:55 to cross the finish line.
The Kenyan then proceeded to the Santa Eularia Ibiza Marathon in Spain where he decisively won in a time of 2:21:16.
Meanwhile, Rutto also had quite a mixed 2022 season, competing in only two races, a half marathon and a full marathon.

Albert Korir and Viola Cheptoo were invited to visit the UN Headquarters in New York.
He started off with the full marathon, Maratón Atlántica Coruña42 in Spain where he finished sixth before proceeding to finish second at the Gran Carrera del Mediterráneo Costa Blanca Half Marathon.
