Wiseman Were oozed class at the Nyayo National Stadium to qualify for the Olympic Games after shattering the Kip Keino Classic Meeting record.
National 400m Hurdles champion Wiseman Were was in a class of his own as he smashed the previous meet record at the Kip Keino Classic happening at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Were was off to a perfect start, showing dust to his competitors as he looked comfortable leading in the one-lap race. He also showcased his technique, jumping over the hurdles and finally crossing the finish line in style.

Wiseman Were sets World Athletics Relays target in the Bahamas
Wiseman Were has disclosed what the 4x400m men's relay team is expecting ahead of the World Athletics Relays scheduled for the Bahamas early next month.
The Kenyan cut the tape in an astonishing 48.57 to also qualify for the Olympic Games smoothly. The qualifying time for the Olympic Games in Paris, France in the men’s race stands at 48.70, and Were has undoubtedly cut his ticket to the showpiece.

In a post-race interview, an elated Were said: “I am happy to have qualified for the Olympics. I had prepared well and it is going to help in my preparations for the World Relay Championships.”
Meanwhile, the men’s triple jump saw Kirwa Yego claim the top prize, jumping a distance of 15.95m to win. Gilbert Pkemoi finished second after jumping 15.59 while Philip Mwema completed the podium, jumping 15.47 to cross the finish line.
After the win, he said: “My major target is to break the national record set by Jacob Katonon because it has stood for many years.”
The men’s javelin crown was taken by Cakss Gatis of Latvia, who threw a distance of 81.74 to win. He said: “It’s one of the best season opener for me. The competition was tough but friendly. It’s my first time in Africa. I’m overwhelmed and happy to be here."
