The 1500 and 5000 meter world record holder was emotional as her promise of gifting her father a car was fulfiled on her behalf.
When Faith Kipyegon, the high flying athlete broke the world 1500 meter record at the Florence Diamond League in Italy a fortnight ago and then the 5000 meter record in Paris a week later,, she knew that the next thing she had to achieve was to buy her dad a car.
Three days after making that promise public at State House in front of president Ruto where she was granted a bunch of keys and 5.5 million shillings by president William Ruto, her promise has now been fulfilled by an Eldoret based car dealer that granted her a car worth 1.5 million shillings.
“I was not expecting this,” said an emotional Kipyegon, “ I said in the State House that I am going to buy my dad a car,” she added.
“I cannot imagine that my dad is now getting a car from the CEO! I am so happy. I am very emotional because I was to do it myself but they have now done it on my behalf!”
