The Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) has revealed its plans to stage a spectacular Lagos International Badminton Classic that highlights the finest of badminton in the center of Lagos to lure top players and create enthusiasm.
The BFN president, Francis Orbih, confirmed that nearly 90 foreign players are slated to compete in this year's tournament, all seeking significant ranking points as they get ready for the highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympics.
He added that Nigerian athletes will take advantage of the possibility to accumulate points, improving their prospects of qualifying not just for the Paris Olympics but also for the upcoming African Games in Accra, Ghana, the following year.
He stated that no fewer than 20 businesses have expressed interest in collaborating and raising the bar for sporting events in Nigeria, from banking and aviation to insurance, transportation, logistics, and gastronomy.

Orbih, who is also a council member of the Badminton Confederation Africa, pleaded with companies to assist Nigerian players’ quest for honors, saying, “Corporate participation is also an investment in the Nigerian players.”
Orbih stated that the marketing meeting at Victoria Island's opulent Civic Center in Lagos seeks to establish new alliances, forge lifelong memories, and engage audiences on a completely new level.
