Tems and Burna Boy dominated social media following their NBA All-Star halftime show performance
Nigerian musicians dominated the NBA All-Star game halftime show in the early hours of Monday, February 20, 2023.
The NBA decided to use the All-Star game in Salt Lake city to celebrate the African contributions to the league.
After two-quarters of basketball at the NBA All-Star game, the players took to the locker room as preparations began for the halftime show.
Toronto Raptors All-Star forward from Cameroon Pascal Siakam would introduce all three musicians from Nigeria for the halftime show.
Tems, Burna Boy and Rema shine at NBA All-star halftime show
The NBA All-star halftime show opened with Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu known professionally as Burna Boy.
The Grammy award winner played hit songs such as “Anybody” and “It’s Plenty to thrill the fans in the arena.
He was followed by Nigerian musician, rapper, and singer Divine Ikubor professionally known by his stage name Rema.
Rema performed with a high level of energy as the crowd vibed to his renditions of “Calm Down” and “Holiday.”
Nigerian singer and songwriter Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems would wrap up the halftime show with a set featuring “Crazy Tings,” and “Free Mind”.
She also sang her verse on Wizkid's “Essence,” and her verse from Future’s “Wait For U.”
As Tems was wrapping up the saw Burna Boy returned to stun the crow vibing to his megahit “Last Last”.
It was an amazing celebration of the Afrobeats music genre on the global stage as the Nigerian musicians were able to show off the culture and traditional dance routines.
