In the Nigerian battle, Udoka Azubuike, Ochai Agbaji, and Chimezie Metu all shine as Utah Jazz outlast Sacramento Kings.

The Utah Jazz recorded a 128-120 victory against the Sacramento Kings in an NBA fixture played in the early hours of Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

In a western conference match-up, the Jazz playing in front of a packed crowd at the Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City boosted their chances at the play-in tournament with a comfortable victory against the Kings.

The Jazz missing several key players including All-Star Lauri Markkanen put up 40 points in the first quarter to take an early 21-point lead.

The Kings scored 33 points in the second quarter reducing the deficit to 16 points at the halftime break.

The Kings responded with a massive 43-point third quarter to level the game going to the fourth quarter.

The Jazz returned to their free-flow offense in the fourth quarter putting up 33 points to take an eight-point victory.

Udoka Azubuike, Ochai Agbaji and Chimezie Metu shine as Jazz beat Kings 

There was a lot of Nigerian flavor on display at the Jazz were able to dispatch the Kings.

Nigerian-American professional basketball player Udoka Azubuike played a pivotal role as the Jazz in the victory against the Jazz.

Azubuike came off the bench to put up 13 points, eight rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in the victory.

He made all six shots in 18 minutes of action and was one of two from the free-throw line.

American professional basketball player of Nigerian descent Ochai Agbaji started as the shooting guard for the Jazz against the Kings.

The rookie had a career-high night with 27 points, five rebounds, and three assists in the game.

In 34 minutes of action, he made eight of 14 shots, including six of 10 from three-point range, and was a perfect five from the free throw line.

Nigerian-American professional basketball player Chimezie Metu also came off the bench for the Kings in the loss.

Metu in 10 minutes of action recorded four points and four rebounds. He made one of his three shots and was two of three from the free-throw line.

Azubuike and Agbaji return to action when the Jazz takes on the Portland Trail Blazer in their next fixture scheduled for Wednesday, March 23, 2023.
