Nigerian Premier Basketball League champions Kwara Falcons suffered a 79-78 loss to Abidjan Basket Club (ABC) on Monday, March 20, 2023.
The Nigerian representatives on the continent are still yet to win their first game in the Sahara Division of the 2023 Basketball Africa League (BAL).
Abidjan Basket Club put up 23 points in the first quarter to take a four-point lead.
It was another dominant quarter from Abidjan Basket Club as they increased their lead to eight points going to the halftime break.
On return from the break, the Kwara Falcons offense put up 21 points to close the deficit.
Both teams traded buckets in the fourth quarter and the Kwara Falcons were able to tie the game with a minute left.
In the last minute, Kwara Falcons missed free throws and turned the ball over twice.
Chudier Bile hit a huge three-point shot to win the game for the Abidjan Basket Club.
Kwara Falcons celebrate BAL experience
Kwara Falcons Head Coach Head Coach Jibril Baba Kadri stated before the BAL that his side intends to be competitive on the continent.
After five straight losses, Kwara Falcons' hopes of advancing to the NBA playoff ended.
Kadri Jibirl gave an extended analysis of the loss to Abidjan Basket Club and their overall performance at the 2023 BAL.
He explained that the experience helped the Kwara Falcons' future participation at the BAL.
Kadri said, “Guys gave their all. Maybe we lacked concentration. We are humans, mistakes happen.

"This is a young team, but next time we qualify it will be a different story. We’ll be stronger.
“You would have seen another side of me, but I am happy for the experience we gained here.”
