Just five years after hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Qatar will host the 2027 FIBA World Cup.
The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will take place in the city of Doha, with all of the matches taking place there thanks to the Qatar Basketball Federation's (QBF) win of the hosting rights.
The proposal particularly impressed the FIBA Central Board in their decision-making process because of its small geographic nature, unusual flexibility with tournament venue scheduling to better serve the fans, and emphasis on sustainability.
Doha, the capital of Qatar, is one of the best-connected cities in the world with direct flights to most of the prospective participating nations.
Additionally, the recently updated public transit system connects all venues and offers first-rate service to all guests.
Since every team is playing in the same city, fans can plan everything in advance and have a unique experience because every venue is only 30 minutes apart.
All of the venues for FIBA's premier men's event are also already built, and the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will be delivered as a carbon-neutral event thanks to widely adopted green technologies.
Due to the fact that the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 will be held in the Middle East and North African areas for the first time, millions of people in these regions will become involved in basketball, further boosting the sport's appeal.
Nigeria's senior men's basketball team known as D'Tigers did not qualify for the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup to be hosted by the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia.
