Sacramento Kings will have a chance to make the second round with Game 7 on their home floor against the Golden State Warriors
The Sacramento Kings shocked the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors on Friday night with a 118-99 road victory in Game 6, forcing a decisive Game 7 at home on Sunday.
The Kings won their first elimination game since 2004 with this victory. With 28 points, six rebounds, and four assists, Malik Monk, who has been outstanding throughout the entire series, led the charge from the bench.
While doing so, De'Aaron Fox managed to score 26 points and dish out 11 assists despite having a broken finger on his shooting hand.
The Kings scored 18 points on second chances as a unit by making 17 3-pointers and grabbing 18 rebounds. However, the Kings' defense was arguably their best aspect of the performance.
In the regular season, they weren't known for their work on that side of the ball, but they were all over the place in this game and held the Warriors to a 37.6 percent field goal percentage.
The Warriors' shooting was at its worst in a playoff game since Game 5 of the 2016 Finals.
The Kings recovered with a victory over the Warriors at the Chase Center in San Francisco after dropping three consecutive games in arguably the most exciting series of the first round.
The anticipated Warriors charge never materialized, and in the fourth quarter, the Kings simply kept growing their lead.
Golden State's offensive play was the worst of the series, and they didn't even make the most of Sabonis' nearly whole game-long foul trouble.
Now, in order to advance past the first round, they must travel to Sacramento and battle their road demons in front of an undoubtedly boisterous Sacramento crowd.
The Warriors have never suffered a series loss to a West opponent since hiring Steve Kerr as their head coach. On Sunday, the Kings led by Coach of the Year Mike Brown will have the chance to alter that.
