The biggest event of the night featured the Indiana fever phenomenon sitting courtside. Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty, the winner of the previous year, was not present in the starting lineup.

Aside from the unexpected absences, the 3-point game was exciting. Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream won the game with 22 points, making 15 of her shots in the last quarter.

She won the trophy in both the skills and 3-point competitions on the opening night of All-Star Weekend.

Gray created history because no one has ever won both competitions and gone on to win.

That overcame Phoenix Mercury's Sophie Cunningham (34.5), who had the benefit of playing at the Footprint Center.

Dream Card advanced to the finals after winning the competition's first round in 31.2 seconds.

She and Cunningham (35.5 seconds) defeated Brittney Griner, Marina Mabrey, and Kelsey Mitchell (who filled in for Erica Wheeler, who was unable to attend the event due to a canceled vacation) to battle for the trophy and $55,000 in prize money.

The eight-year WNBA veteran then defeated Jonquel Jones in the three-point game with a game-high 22 points. In the end, Jones scored twenty-one points, but he missed the game-winning money shot.

For winning both events, Gray will get $115,150, or 62% of her anticipated 2024 WNBA salary of $185,000.
