The WNBA Draft has quickly become one of the most anticipated events in professional sports, and the 2025 edition is shaping up to be the biggest yet.

After a record-breaking 2.45 million viewers tuned in for the 2024 WNBA Draft—the most-watched in league history—the league is poised to capture even more attention this year thanks to a star-studded class and surging fan interest.

Last year’s draft was headlined by Caitlin Clark going No. 1 overall to the Indiana Fever, followed by Cameron Brink at No. 2 to the Los Angeles Sparks.

The Chicago Sky made major moves to land Kamilla Cardoso at No. 3 and Angel Reese at No. 7, two players who have since become household names.

This year, the spotlight is squarely on Paige Bueckers, the UConn guard expected to go No. 1 overall to the Dallas Wings. Also generating major buzz is Okikiola “Kiki” Iriafen, a powerful forward with Nigerian roots who’s coming off a breakout season at Stanford.

Her name has been climbing draft boards, and many project her to be a top-five pick, making her one of the most exciting international prospects to watch.

Other elite talents in the 2025 class include France’s Dominique Malonga, sharpshooter Sonia Citron, all-around star Aneesah Morrow, and versatile Saniya Rivers, all poised to make their mark in the league.

When is the 2025 WNBA Draft?

The event is set for Monday, April 14, 2025, with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert announcing each selection and welcoming a new class of talent to the league. The draft consists of three rounds—12 picks in the first round and 13 each in the second and third.
