WNBA superstar Arike Ogunbowale attends Burna Boy's concert, connects with Nigerian roots.
American professional basketball player of Nigerian descent Arike Ogunbowale continues her preparation ahead of the new WNBA season.
Following the conclusion of the WNBA Draft, attention now turns to the start of the season and Ogunbowale is one of the superstars in the association.
Selected with the fifth overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft, Ogunbowale has come a long way since her dagger to win the 2018 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Arike Ogunbowale attends Burna Boy concert
In the early hours of Thursday, April 13, 2023, Ogubowale attended the concert of Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu MFR, known professionally as Burna Boy.
Burna Boy took his Love, Damini album concert to the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Ogunbowale plays in Dallas and was able to attend Burna Boy's concert with a 20,000-capacity packed crowd.
The Arena is home to the Dallas Mavericks, and Ogunbowale preparing for the Dallas Wings season on the horizon used the Burna Boy concert to connect to her Nigerian roots.
The 26-year-old took to her official Instagram to post content from the concert.
Arike Ogunbowale and Nigerian heritage
At the concert, Arike met up with Nigerian academic, and businesswoman Bose Ogulu mother and talent manager of her son Burna Boy.
Arike was also at the concert with her brother American football running back for the Houston Texans Oluwadare Ogunbowale.
Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States of America immigrant parents Yolanda and Gregory Ogunbowale, Arike is of Nigerian descent.
She posted photos wearing traditional Yoruba attire with her brother while younger.
Ogunbowale and African heritage
Ogunbowale continues to expand her brand off the pitch as she was part of the rosters for the 2023 NBA All-Star celebrity game.
She also participated in the fourth NBA Academy Women’s Camp Africa which took place at an elite basketball training center in Saly, Senegal for the top high-school-age prospects from across the continent.
