The NBA has abandoned the Team USA vs Team World concept for the Rising Stars Challenge.
The participants for the 2022 NBA Rising Stars Game were announced on Tuesday, January 31, 2023.
The NBA Rising Stars Game features the best first and second-year talents around the league.
NBA Rising Star Challenge
The NBA Rising Stars Game format for the 2023 NBA All-Star weekend in Salt Lake, Utah was modified by the league.
The 2023 Rising Stars Games will see the rookies take on the sophomores as well as members from the G league setup.
There will be three games to determine the team that wins the NBA Rising Stars challenge.
28 players were selected to take part in the Rising Stars Challenge.
There will be 21 players from the NBA featuring 11 players in their first year and 10 in their second year.
There also will be seven players from the G League to make the selections work.
The 28 players will be divided into four teams featuring seven players each.
Team A will face Team B while Team C will face Team D and the winner from both games proceed to play in the final to determine the winner of the NBA Rising Stars challenge.
Rookies
Paolo Banchero, Jalen Duren, AJ Griffin, Jaden Ivey, Walker Kessler, Bennedict Mathurin, Keegan Murray, Andrew Nembhard, Jabari Smith Jr, Jeremy Sochan, and Jalen Williams.
Sophomores
Jose Alvarado, Scottie Barnes, Josh Giddey, Jalen Green, Quentin Grimes, Bones Hyland, Evan Mobley, Trey Murphy III, Alperen Sengun, and Franz Wagner.
G League
Sidy Cissoko, Mojave King, Scoot Henderson, Kenneth Lofton Jr, Mac McClung, Leonard Miller, and Scotty Pippen Jr.
Coaches
The four NBA coaches selected for the Rising Stars Challenge include Pau Gasol (Team Pau), Joakim Noah (Team Joakim), Jason Terry (Team Terry), and Deron Williams (Team Deron)
They will be responsible for selecting the players on their respective teams through a draft process.
The NBA Jordan Rising Stars will take place on Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Vivint Arena home of the Utah Jazz.
