Kyrie Irving teams up with Luka Doncic as the Brooklyn Nets make a deal with the Dallas Mavericks

The Brooklyn Nets have completed the trade of Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

Irving request a trade from the Brooklyn Nets late last week insisting on a move before the close of the trade deadline scheduled for Thursday, February 9, 2023.

Kyrie Irving traded from Brooklyn Nets to Dallas Mavericks

Teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Clippers, and the Dallas Mavericks emerged as front runners for Irving following his trade request.

Two days after the request, Irving is on the move from Brooklyn to Dallas as first reported by NBA insider Shams Charania.

The landscape of the NBA may change at the trade deadline thanks to Kyrie Irving.

Breaking the news the message by Shams said, "The Brooklyn Nets are trading Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round and multiple second-round picks, sources tell."

The Mavericks facing competition from the Lakers, Clippers, and Suns had to part way with a lot to get Irving.

The Mavericks traded point guard Spencer Dinwiddie and small forward Dorian Finney-Smith to get Irving.

They also gave up a 2029 unprotected first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick, and a 2029 second-round pick to the Nets.

In addition to Irving, the Mavericks get small forward Markieff Morris in return.

The Mavericks now aim to team up Irving with their MVP candidate Luka Doncic in a western conference that is wide open.

Doncic is recovering from a heel injury and Irving is expected to travel to Dallas to join up with his new teammates.
