Who is Bryce James?
On June 14, 2007, Bryce Maximus James was born in Cleveland, Ohio, to LeBron and Savannah James.
He is the middle kid of the couple, who also have a first boy named Bronny who was born in October 2004 and a girl named Zhuri who was born in October 2014.
Bryce's birth occurred precisely at the right moment for a basketball-loving family—in the midst of the 2007 NBA Finals, just as LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers were gearing up for a game-winning comeback against the San Antonio Spurs.
From cheering one another on during basketball games to complimenting one another in interviews, the family has a deep bond.
Bronny, who is expected to be selected in the second round of the NBA Draft in 2024, attributes his ability to handle the attention and expectations he has received during his basketball career to Bryce and his family.
Their legendary father supports both of them, even though Bronny has been able to rely on Bryce for assistance.
Bryce James' basketball career
While the elder James sibling has received most of the attention, Bryce has emerged as a star thanks to a growth spurt and some standout AAU performances.
Bryce has played for the elite high school program at Sierra Canyon School, the same institution his older brother attends, since moving there in May 2019.
LeBron posted a photo of himself and his younger son during the summer. The youngster is already almost as tall as his Hall of Fame father.
Since Bryce hasn't had a lot of varsity playing time, it's difficult to assess how he compares to his peers.
As a result, recruiting organizations such as ESPN and 247Sports have not yet assigned the youngest James son a Class of 2025 ranking.
His father LeBron, of the Los Angeles Lakers, posted a picture of Bryce dunking and said, "My twin." citing the similarities to LeBron are rather noticeable.
Bryce James as a basketball player
Bryce, who is almost six feet six, still has a lot more growing to do, but he is physically well-equipped for his age.
Despite the fact that Bronny is mostly a playmaking guard, Bryce can attack the hoop whenever he wants, grab rebounds, and get out in transition because of his stature.
His talent and assurance when shooting the ball—an area in which you can tell he has trained—are what stands out about his game.
LeBron said in 2018 that the 11-year-old was already the family's top shooter.
Bryce has played basketball for his whole high school career, occasionally posting pictures from his matches to Instagram.
He got his first offer to play basketball on a Division I scholarship in August 2022 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Ohio State extended an invitation to Bryce to play collegiate basketball in October 2023.
Right now, Bryce is a member of the LeBron James AAU team, "Team Strive for Greatness."
In December 2022, Bryce agreed to a non-integer contract (NIL) with Klutch Sports, a sports agency run by LeBron's buddy Rich Paul that represents the athlete in talks with prospective sponsors for endorsement deals.
Bronny the oldest son of LeBron, who is eighteen, has always had the best chance of realizing his dream of joining his father as an NBA player.
Now that Bronny is in the league, the younger James brother has been attracting attention lately.
It's possible that Bryce James resembles his well-known father more than anyone realized.
Bryce James’ height
These days, Bryce James' height will be the first thing that people notice about him. LeBron, a massive, 6-foot-9 man with lots of muscle, is still a dangerous player on the field. Bryce is able to exert himself similarly versus other high school athletes even as a lanky teenager.
The younger James brother is said to have seen a growth surge in the past year.
During his adolescent years, Bryce was well-known, however, the current size increase is quite startling.
Less than a year earlier, news accounts described the youthful phenomenon as 6-foot-4.
At six feet six inches and counting, Bryce James is currently three inches taller than Bronny.
He still has to put on some muscle, but that will happen with time and effort.
It's obvious that scouts have a lot riding on Bryce's potential to develop into an NBA great.
His first Division I offer came in the mail already, and it's likely to be the first of many.
Even as a high school player, Bryce is obviously in high demand, as evidenced by the $1.2 million price that his name, image, and NIL have already acquired.
Bryce vs brother Bronny James
Considering their disparities as athletes and their respective family histories, Bryce and Bronny present an intriguing comparison duo.
Despite having trained under the four-time NBA champion for their whole lives, neither is a clone of LeBron.
They'll always be compared to LeBron in popular culture, but as athletes, they've already begun blazing their own trails.
Billed primarily as a point guard, Bronny received six Division I offers before choosing USC.
The highly regarded talent has a knack for making deft passes and keeps getting better every year. Although he still has to improve his shooting, he is probably far from his ceiling.
According to accounts, the younger Bryce is already capable of frightening drives to the rim that beat out opponents in his path, making him a different kind of player.
Although the shooting guard is not as adept at playmaking or defense as Bronny was at his age, he still has a better natural jump shot.
Not only are their well-known names creating the buzz, but the Scouts also perceive something special in both of LeBron's sons; Bryce may soon follow his brother Bronny into the NBA.
