KIU Rangers start their regular season against the Angels in the National Basketball League with championship aspirations, and they badly want to break that jinx.
A semi-final loss to eventual champions, UCU Lady Canons, was where their season ended last time term, and that has been their story.

Kanyamunza averaged 13.3 points per game last season, the fourth most in the league and leading the company in three points percentage with 30% from beyond the arc.
Her partner in crime, Uwineza Ninette, is developing into the best two-way player in the league, having clocked the most assists with 123 and averaging 2.9 steals per game.
Fildauce Namulema says that the team is excited to kick start their season and ready for the challenges ahead.
"We have been training together this off-season to try and get that chemistry going. The team is ready for the season and can't wait for the tip-off,” Namuleme told Pulse Sports.
Angels basketball Club will look to improve on last season's quarter-finals exit at the hands of the KCCA Leopards in the playoffs.
The offence is an area the team has to improve on this season as Elizabeth Aguti Akol was the only player to average double digits in the group, 10 points per game.
