Led by Kevin Durant the Suns put up 37 points to take a one-point lead to the halftime break.
Durant made clutch free throws late in the game as the Suns held off the Mavs for the win.
Durant shines against Mavs
Key to the victory for the Suns was Durant down the stretch accepting the double teams and bailing them out with tough buckets.
Durant led all scorers in the game as he put up 37 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one block in 41 minutes of action.
He was an efficient 12 of 17 from the field, including three of five from three-point range to lead the Suns to victory.
It was the first matchup for Durant against his former Brooklyn Nets teammate Kyrie Irving.
Booker vs Doncic
There is history between the Suns and the Mavs as both teams met in the Western Conference semifinals last year.
Devin Booker complimented Durant with 36 points as they took revenge against Luka Doncic and the Mavericks.
Doncic missed a late layup to tie the game and then fouled Durant for free throws.
Booker had some words for Doncic and they faced off and received technical fouls from the officials.
The confrontation between Booker and Doncic went viral as fans now want another playoff series between the Suns and the Mavs.
