The Ghanaian basketball team has been representing their country superbly in the maiden edition of the Louis Edem Basketball Championship in Lagos.
Ghana’s basketball club Spintex Knights will return to their country with plenty of positive feedback after their outing in Nigeria.
The Knights have been in the country making their presence and talents known at the inaugural edition of the Louis Edem Basketball Championship in Lagos.
Spintex, the only invited foreign team, put up a solid performance in the four matches they have played so far in the ten-team invitational tournament.
We will leave with the experience
After four matches played in the championship, Spintex won two and lost two, putting them on the brink of elimination.

Spintex went into the final game of the group stages against Nigeria’s Comets, a game tagged the jollof war, needing just a point to secure a place in the last four.
However, the Comets proved too strong for the gallant Ghanaians following a narrow 56-54 win in the intense and keenly contested battle.

The coach of the team, Selorm Thomas, was disappointed in the end but noted that the journey to Nigeria has been an experience his team will love to relive.
Thomas spoke exclusively to Pulse Sports Nigeria moments after the match against the Comets, which was their fourth in the competition.
“It was a disappointing loss,” Thomas told Pulse Sports Nigeria.
“We didn't start well but down the stretch, we were able to come back to tie the game and then, we didn't execute well at the end and that's what cost us.”
“I am not happy but it (the experience) is something we can live with.”
Spintex facing Nigerians for the first time
Speaking more about their experience so far in the competition, the passionate coach added that his players were facing Nigerian teams for the first time.

“We can leave with the experience because this is the first time most of them (the players) are playing against teams from Nigeria,” he added.
“You know the pedigree of Nigerian basketball is quite higher than ours (Ghana’s), so, this is a good experience that we can leave with.”
Spintex Knights will continue in the Louis Edem basketball championship after the University of Lagos, Unilag, did them a favour.
Knights advanced to the semis thanks to Unilag’s win over Comets on Thursday evening. They will face Lagos Legends in the last four later today.
