Giannis Antetokounmpo returned from injury with a monster performance for the Bucks against the Nets.
The Milwaukee Bucks recorded a 118-104 victory against the Brooklyn Nets in the early hours of Wednesday, March 1, 2023.
The Bucks came into the game on a 14-game winning streak and welcomed back Greek-Nigerian professional basketball player Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Nets have been struggling since the trade of superstar stars Kyrie Tring to the Dallas Mavericks and Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns.
Led by new acquisition Mikal Bridges the Nets took a 12-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
The Bucks bounced back to take the second quarter by two points but trailed by 10 going to the halftime break.
The third quarter was an avalanche of attack by the Bucks, led by Antetokoumpo putting pressure on the rim to record 39 points.
The Bucks established a six-point lead to start the fourth quarter and were relentless also on defense. They held the Nets to just 19 points and cruised to a comfortable 14-point win.
The victory means the Bucks have now won 15 straight games and are top of the Eastern Conference.
Giannis Antetokounmpo returns from injury
It was Antetokounmpo's first game since he sustained a knee injury early in the game against the Miami Heat last week.
Antetokoumpo featured for 29 minutes and dropped 33 points, 15 rebounds, four assists, and one steal on his return.
The 28-year-old power forward made 15 of his 27 shots including one of two from three-point range but struggled from the free-throw line.
Speaking to the Bally Sports broadcast about the 15-game win streak after the game, Antetokoumpo said, "t's really fun it's really fun we haven't done it in a long time right now.
"We're playing great basketball playing together guys are making shots were defending we're out there competing we do whatever it takes to win, we build good habits so it's fun it's fun right now."
Antetokoumpo took to social media to share his thoughts following his return to the court.
Along with a photo of the game was a message that said, "When I go out there, I give everything I have. I don’t take it for granted."
Antetokoumpo returns to action when the Bucks welcome the Orlando Magic in their next fixture scheduled for Thursday, February 2, 2023.
