The Milwaukee Bucks have fired head coach Adrian Griffin despite being second in the Eastern Conference with a 30-13 record.
The Bucks confirmed the decision to part ways with head coach Griffin on Tuesday, as announced by general manager Jon Horst.
The decision, made mid-season, was described as challenging in the statement released by the team in the aftermath of the sacking.
“This was a difficult decision to make during the season,” Horst said via the statement.
“We are working immediately toward hiring our next head coach. We thank Coach Griffin for his hard work and contributions to the team.”
According to reports from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and The Athletic's Shams Charania on Tuesday, veteran NBA coach Doc Rivers is considered a leading candidate for the Bucks' head coaching position.
It was noted that negotiations between Rivers and the Bucks were already in progress.
