"The Gazelles have a new head coach. Goran Lojo will take over the Senior Women's National team," FUBA revealed on their social media handles on Monday.

Lojo comes in as a direct replacement for Spaniard Alberto Antuna, who resigned from the role last month.

The latter has since moved on to continental powerhouse Senegal and was unveiled about a fortnight back.

Meanwhile, Lojo's experience has had him coach the Bosnia and Herzegovina women’s national team coach for nearly six years between 2017 and February 2023.

In that time, he led the team to the quarterfinals before he clinched a fifth-place finish at the 2021 European Championships.

This was also Bosnia and Herzegovina's best-ever finish in the European Championships.

In addition, in the 2022 FIBA World Cup, Bosnia and Herzegovina's women's team managed a decent 12th-place finish.

In his most recent role as coach of German Women’s Bundesliga club Rutronik Stars Keltern, Lojo guided them to the country's premier championship in April.
