The Boston Celtics kept their season alive with a Game 4 win against the Miami Heat.
The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat 116-99 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals to force a decisive fifth game.
A series deficit of three games has never been overcome by any of the 150 teams in NBA history, and the Celtics are still down 3-1.
After struggling through their first three games, the Celtics managed to make some threes, sinking 18 of their 44 attempts.
The Heat were led by Jimmy Butler, who scored 29 points on 9 of 21 shooting.
Jayson Tatum inspires Boston Celtics to victory
The Eastern Conference Finals series has been extended thanks to a spectacular Boston Celtics run of 16-0 in the third quarter that stunned the Miami Heat.
Jayson Tatum had a crucial role in the Celtics' victory in Game 4 despite the team trailing the series 0-3.
When Miami had a nine-point lead and appeared poised to take control of the game, Tatum made two consecutive threes.
The Celtics finally passed the Heat for a nine-point lead by the end of the third quarter as Tatum's successful 3P tries kept them close to Miami's score.
Bam Adebayo was held to 10 points on seven attempts against the Celtics. Once again, Gabe Vincent (17 points) and Caleb Martin (16 points) excelled.
Overall, poor 3-point shooting (8-of-32) and an excessive number of turnovers caused the Heat to lose the game.
With a 12-0 run and a five-point advantage going into the fourth quarter, the Celtics maintained their lead.
With less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Boston had completed its comeback and ensured that the series would proceed to Game 5.
