Imanishimwe scored a game-high 17 points, while Longom added 13. Brenda Ekone, with 10 points, was the only other JKL player to score in double figures.

The clash between JT Lady Jaguars and JKL Lady Dolphins on Friday night pitted Number One against Number Two.

And by the time the final buzzer went, tables had turned with JKL moving to the top of the log following a 65-59 victory over the first round Seed One.

Mandy Juruni’s charges got out of the blocks early and took the first quarter 18-11.

Playing without team captain Flavia Oketcho, JKL also lost Leticia Awor in the first minute of the game after the guard twisted her knee and was stretchered off.

Maureen Amoding led the Lady Jaguars’ fightback in the second quarter with a couple of connections from the three-point line.

By taking the second frame 23-13, the Lady Jaguars led 34-31 going into the halftime break.

It was, however, one team that turned up with a fight in the second half of the game.

Ritah Imanishimwe shot five-for-13 from three-point range as the two-time champions cruised through the third (18-11) and fourth (16-14) frames to win by six points.

The Lady Jaguars’ fightback was not helped by Muhaimina Namuwaya’s early foul trouble, which allowed Hope Akello and Becky Longom freedom around the rim.

Imanishimwe scored a game-high 17 points, while Longom added 13. Brenda Ekone, with 10 points, was the only other JKL player to score in double figures.

Akello was named Player of the Game after scoring eight and pulling down 19 rebounds.

Amoding scored 16 points and, alongside Zainah Lokwameri (10), were the only Lady Jaguars players in double figures on the night.

JKL improved to a 10-2 record and moved top of the log, while JT dropped to second with a 9-3 run.
