Josh Okogie stands out as Phoenix Suns lose to Atlanta Hawks

The Phoenix Suns suffered a 116-107 loss to the Atlanta Hawks in an NBA fixture played in the early hours of Friday, February 10, 2023.

The Phoenix Suns came into the fixture shorthanded following a massive blockbuster deadline-day trade.

The Hawks led by Trae Young came out hot with a 36-point first quarter to establish a 14-point lead.

The Suns clawed their way back with a run in the second quarter to cut the deficit by five points.

The Hawks went to the break with a nine-point lead and continue to play with intensity in the third quarter.

It was another 37 point explosion as the Hawks stretched their lead to 18 points going into the fourth quarter.

The Suns tried to claw their way back late in the game but the Hawks held on to claim a nine-point victory.

Okogie stands out for Suns against Hawks

Nigerian professional basketball player Joshua Aloiye Okogie was sensational for the Suns in the game against the Hawks.

Despite the depletion in the Suns' roster, Head Coach Monty Williams decided to bring up Okogie from the bench.

The 24-year-old guard was however given 33 minutes of action and showed he can be an important contributor to their success this season.

He recorded 25 points, grabbed four rebounds, and contributed three assists and three steals.

Okogie was also active on defense to record a block was involved in the offense shooting the ball efficiently.

The D'Tigers star made nine of his 17 shots, including three of six from three-point range.

He also was perfect from the line to make all four free throws as the Suns made a late run to try to win the game.

The Suns at the trade deadline moved Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, and Jae Crowder to the Brooklyn Nets for superstar Kevin Durant and TJ Warren.

Nigerian basketball star Josh Okogie was the star performer for the Suns in the victory against the Pacers.

The Suns are now short of wing defenders and impressive performances from Okogie will earn him more rotation minutes as they make a push for the playoffs.

Okogie returns to action when the Suns take on the Indiana Pacers in their next fixture scheduled for Saturday, February 11, 2023.
