Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) secured silver in the inaugural Africa Women's Basketball League (AWBL) that concluded in Alexandria, Egypt on Tuesday night.
The nine-day competition featured ten teams battling it out for the newly revamped AWBL title, which followed the Africa Champions Cup for Women won by Sporting Alexandria the previous year, marking their first-ever African club title.

KPA's journey to the final was marked by a remarkable upset over the star-studded Rwanda Energy Group (REG) in the semifinals, making them the first Kenyan team to reach a final in a FIBA Africa clubs competition.
The road to the final was not without challenges, as Sporting Alexandria had previously defeated KPA in the 2022 Africa Champions Cup, with scores of 100-82 in the semifinals and 102-77 in the preliminary round of this year's event.

Sporting Alexandria's fast-break game proved effective, outscoring KPA 28-13 in that department.
