LeBron James and Giannis Antetokoumpo will select their All-Star teammates on the day of the game.
The 2023 NBA All-Star starters were announced in the early hours of Friday, January 27, 2023.
The teams will be captained by LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Giannis Antetokoumpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
James earned the captain spot as the top vote-getter of all players in the western conference while Antetokoumpo did the same in the Eastern Conference.

In the West, James was joined by Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors, Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets, and Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans.
In the East, Antetokoumpo is joined by Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant both of the Brooklyn Nets.
Mitchell speaking to the TNT broadcast said, “I’m definitely blessed and humbled to be a part of this.
“To be a part of my fourth All-Star and now to be a starter, I couldn’t be happier.”

The NBA Al-Star reserves will be decided upon by the NBA coaches and media with seven players selected from each conference to join the starters.
James is chasing the all-time NBA career scoring record held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
Now selected to the All-Star game for the 19th season, Jame now ties Abdul-Jabbar's record at the event.
Since the switch to the new format, James as captain has led his team to victory on all five occasions.
There is a modification to the selection this year as the captains James and Antetokoumpo will have to wait until the day of the game to make their selections.
The NBA All-Star weekend is scheduled for Salt Lake City home of the Utah Jazz and the high-profile game will take place on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
