In the NBA, LeBron James returned to sensational form as the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Lakers defeated the San Antonio Spurs 120-115 at Frost Bank Center in their first NBA Cup Group Play game, with Anthony Davis scoring a season-high 40 points and LeBron James recording his fourth straight triple-double.

The Spurs opened the game with nine consecutive points, part of an 18-6 surge in the first five and a half minutes, thanks to the Lakers' poor start.
In addition to 12 rebounds, two blocks, and two assists, Davis shot 10 for 12 from the free-throw line and 14 for 26 from the field.
With 11 seconds left, James, who finished with 15 points, 16 rebounds, and 12 assists, converted two free throws to give the Lakers the victory.
After a back-and-forth game, Austin Reaves finished with 19 points, six assists, three rebounds, and a 3-pointer with 1:59 left to give the Lakers a 114-113 advantage.
D'Angelo Russell and Gabe Vincent gave the Lakers a boost off the bench, and Max Christie returned to the starting lineup after a week.
Christie finished with two steals and 11 points on 4 of 7 shooting.
Vincent finished with six points and three steals, while Russell finished with thirteen points, six assists, and three steals.
Wing rookie Dalton Knecht finished with 14 points after starting in place of forward Rui Hachimura, who was sidelined due to an injured right ankle.
Victor Wembanyama, a second-year Spurs standout, finished with 28 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and two blocked shots.
However, as the game progressed, the Lakers improved their defense of the 7-foot-3 Frenchman, who was fresh off a game in which he scored a career-high 50 points.
