LeBron James and Lakers crash out of NBA Cup after loss to Thunder
The Los Angeles Lakers lost 101-93 to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
However, they suffered a 97-87 loss to the Timberwolves also with their layoff evident.
For most of Friday night's game at the Target Center, the Lakers' effort was noticeable, particularly on defense.
However, they had trouble getting out of their own way with their half-court offense, which resulted in their eighth defeat in the last eleven games.
After surpassing 110 points in 12 of their first 15 games, the Lakers have only scored at least 110 points twice in their last 10 games.
Against the Timberwolves, the Lakers never scored more than 25 points in a quarter.
Despite having four turnovers, Anthony Davis led the Lakers with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and three blocked shots.
Austin Reaves ended with 18 points, six rebounds, and five assists in 30 minutes after missing the previous five games.
After missing the team earlier in the week due to personal issues, LeBron James is still out with an excused absence after missing his second straight game due to left foot discomfort.
Minnesota was led by Anthony Edwards, who finished with 23 points and 6 rebounds.
McDaniels provided 18 points, nine rebounds, five steals, and two blocked shots, while Randle finished with 21 points and five rebounds.
Rudy Gobert was another standout player for the Timberwolves, who won for the fifth time in six games with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
