Rudy Gobert bags double-double as Timberwolves blow out Lakers
The Minnesota Timberwolves are back at 500 after blowing out the Los Angeles Lakers.
James ended up with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists in 34 minutes of action.
The Lakers were able to make a wise scheduling decision to give James time to relax and recuperate because of the NBA Cup.
Redick claimed that before Los Angeles' 107-98 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on December 8, he and James came up with the idea for the 22-year veteran to take a break.
James had eight days off between games since his last appearance on December 6.
James is averaging 23 points on 49.5% shooting (35.9% from three-point range), 9.1 assists, and 8.0 rebounds thus far this season.
Max Christie joined James, Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, and Rui Hachimura in the starting lineup, marking Redick's first experiment with a different starting lineup this season.
The home team easily won, and although the Grizzlies managed to linger around, they never posed a serious threat to the Lakers.
Anthony Davis was the star of the game as he finished with 40 points and 16 rebounds.
Before returning to the road for two consecutive games against the Sacramento Kings on Thursday and Saturday of next week, the Lakers will take a few days off.
