In a 148-143 victory over the Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic lit up State Farm Arena with a career-high 73 points.
The performance by Doncic surpassed Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers' 70-point performance against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday to become the highest-scoring NBA game of the season.

It also equaled Wilt Chamberlain and David Thompson for the fourth-highest-scoring game in NBA history.
The only records that stand above Doncic's are Chamberlain's 78- and 100-point performances as well as Lakers legend Kobe Bryant's 81-point effort.
Only 15 70-point games have ever been played in NBA history, and Doncic is the 10th player to have hit the milestone.
Doncic's previous career high was sixty points, and he shattered Dirk Nowitzki's franchise record for most points in a half on a memorable night that featured 41 points at the half.
Doncic started the second quarter with 18 points and finished with 23 points.
By the end of the third quarter, he had scored 57 points.
He then scored eight points in a row to start the fourth quarter and ended with 73 points.
He made 25 of 33 shots from the field, including 8 of 13 three-pointers and 15 of 16 free throws.
He also had seven assists and ten rebounds.
