Ja Morant suspended for 8 games after NBA's investigation on Gun incident.
The NBA have announced the result to the gun incident by Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant.
Morant on March 4, showed off a gun on his official Instagram account after the Grizzlies lost to the Denver Nuggets.
Morant has been away from the team since then as NBA commissioner Adam Silver launched an investigation to the incident.
Morant suspended for 8 games
The NBA have now released details of their findings following the conclusion of negotiations.
Morant went through counselling in Miami after the gun incident and met with Silver in New York.
Upon conclusion of the investigation, the NBA announced an eight game suspension for Morant on Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
A statement by Silver on the gun incident explained that there was no conclusion that the gun belonged to Morant or was brought by him into the nightclub.
The investigation also did not conclude that Morant possessed the gun while traveling with the team or in any NBA facility.
The statement by Silver said, “Ja’s conduct was irresponsible, reckless and potentially very dangerous.
“It also has serious consequences given his enormous following and influence, particularly among young fans who look up to him. He has expressed sincere contrition and remorse for his behavior.
"Ja has also made it clear to me that he has learned from this incident and that he understands his obligations and responsibility to the Memphis Grizzlies and the broader NBA community extend well beyond his play on the court.”
Morant is now expected to return before the end of the regular season and help the Grizzlies in their playoff push.
The suspension includes games he has already missed as Morant is eligible to return to the Grizzlies lineup against the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, March 20.
