Nigeria aims to secure a place in the FIBA U-18 World Championship at the FIBA Africa U-18 Basketball tournament finals.

Nigeria's Junior Tigers have secured the sole ticket to represent FIBA Zone 3 at the FIBA Africa U-18 basketball tournament finals, set to be held later this year in South Africa.

The team displayed dominance throughout the qualifiers, emerging champions in all of their three matches.

They kicked off the campaign with impressive wins against Ghana (72-47) and Liberia (82-49) before securing a hard-fought 70-60 victory over Côte d’Ivoire.

Coach Humphrey Fubara Onyanabo's squad is now set to represent Nigeria at the FIBA Africa U-18 basketball tournament finals, where they will aim to secure a spot in the FIBA U-18 World Championship.

Nigeria boasts an impressive record of seven U-18 titles and will be looking to add to its trophy cabinet.

D'Tigress set new records at the Olympics

Meanwhile, the Nigerian D'Tigress women's basketball team made history as the first African team to advance past the group stage of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Following their 79-70 victory over Canada in the final group game, they became the first African team, male or female, to reach the quarter-finals.
