The Oklahoma City Thunder advanced to the 2024 NBA Cup Final defeating the Houston Rockets as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander came alive with free throws.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 111-96 victory over the Houston Rockets, scoring 32 points and pulling down eight rebounds to secure a spot in the NBA Cup final.

Jalen Williams contributed 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Thunder, while Isaiah Hartenstein scored 21 points on 9 of 12 shooting and eight rebounds.

Houston's Amen Thompson scored a team-high 19 points and pulled down seven rebounds after coming off the bench.

Dillon Brooks and Jabari Smith Jr. both scored 14 points for the Rockets.

Fred VanVleet only shot 3-for-15 from the field and was restricted to eight points, despite 13 points from Alperen Sengun.

The Rockets led 42-41 after a clumsy first half in which no team made more than 34 percent of their field goals.

Before Gilgeous-Alexander scored the last five points of the second quarter, Houston had a six-point lead.

Gilgeous-Alexander ended the game with 15 free throws, and the Thunder outshot the Rockets 45 percent to 36.5 percent overall.

On Tuesday, Oklahoma City will play the Milwaukee Bucks in Las Vegas to win the in-season tournament title.
