Magic Stormers edged Kampala University Ladies, 48-41, in the National Basketball League game played on Saturday at the UCU grounds in Mukono.
In a low-scoring game for both sides in the scorching Mukono sun, Kur Ajar was the player of the match after scoring a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds.
Ajar hopes to improve and expects the side to improve as the season progresses.
"It was a tough game, and we are happy with the win, but we will look to improve our performances even better in the future," she told Pulse Sports.
Stormers head coach, John Omondi, called his team's performance fair but expects them to improve as the season progresses.
"The performance was fair in today's game, and we have to save up our energies for tomorrow's game, but the team will surely get stronger from here," Omondi noted.
Margaret Baagala scored a team-high 18 points for the Lady Eagles but was not ultimately enough to get the win needed. It is a quick turnaround for both teams as they return to action tomorrow as the Lady Eagles face the Angels basketball club next.
The magic Stormers face the Nkumba Lady Marines next and go in as favourites to win the game and improve their record to 5-2 to start the season.
