Uganda was drawn in Group C, alongside giants Mali and Senegal.
Alberto Antuna’s charges finished second in the Zone V Qualifiers to land the ticket, but FIBA had remained tight-lipped about Uganda’s qualification.

ZONE V QUALIFIERS Uganda Gazelles bounce back with classic win over Egypt
Like was the case against Kenya, Jannon Jaye Otto and Hope Akello stood out with double doubles. Jannon posted 27 points and 12 boards while Akello had 14 points and 11 rebounds.
But Uganda’s performance, which included defeating Egypt in their second game, convinced FIBA Africa that the team was good enough for Afrobasket, hence handing Zone V another ticket.
Defending champions Nigeria were drawn in Group D alongside Egypt and DR Congo.
