The National women’s basketball team, the Gazelles, will today start their preparations for this year’s FIBA Women’s Afrobasket at Africa Bible University in Lubowa.
The team was supposed to kick off their preps on Sunday, but that was delayed for another day.
Nine foreign-based players will join ten locally-based ones to fight for the available 12 slots ahead of the championship in Kigali, Rwanda.

KIU Titans edged Our Savior, 78-77, in a classic National Basketball League game played at the YMCA courts on Sunday.
The US-based quartet of Jane Asinde, Priscilla Abby, Victoria Mukisa and Lydia Babirye is already in Uganda for the training, while the rest are expected to join the team along the way.

BASKETBALL NBL: Ndejje Angels complete double over UCU Canons
Ndejje Angels have completed a National Basketball League double over the UCU Canons with a close 89-82 win at the YMCA Courts on Sunday.
The training will start without head coach Alberto Antuna who is expected to jet in on July 10.
Assistant coaches Nicholas Natuhereza and Mavita Ali will take the team through its paces.

The 12-nation tournament will be played at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, between July 28 and August 6.
Uganda was drawn in Group C alongside record champions Senegal and Mali.
And having beaten Egypt in the Zone V Qualifiers, the Gazelles will go into the tournament high on confidence.
The Women’s Afrobasket will be played between July 28 and August 6 in the Rwandan capital Kigali.
