The UPDF Tomahawks have finally snapped their four-game losing streak after defeating the JKL Dolphins, 68-54, in a league match played on Sunday at Abuja Park.
Coming into their last fixture of the first round, the Tomahawks ensured they would end the first round with a victory by closing out the final two quarters in style after restricting their opponents to 30 points in the second half.
Andrew Gang (12 points, ten rebounds) and Micheal Kojjo(17 points, 11 rebounds) posted double-doubles in the victory.
“The feeling is mixed after the game,” UPDF’s Jonathan Egau told Pulse Sports before adding.
“Because this is not where we are expected to be as a side at this stage of the season; we will take the win and bounce back stronger in the next round.”
“As players, we have not given time to prepare our bodies for competitive basketball, and various teams in the league have caught us out, but we go for the break and hopefully come back stronger,” Egau added.
The Tomahawks finish the first round just within the playoff spots with a 4-7 record as they head into the mid-season break.
