City Oilers guard Jimmy Enabu has emphasized the need for the team to win their next game in the Basketball Africa League Nile Conference.
The Ugandan champions have lost two in a row to start the tournament in Cairo, Egypt and must bounce back when they face Guinea’s SLAC on Tuesday.
“We need to redeem ourselves,” Enabu said ahead of Tuesday’s must-win clash.
“We lost the first two games, and we really need to win the next one,” he added.
“Winning the next game will give us a good momentum boost, confidence in the camp and put us in a good place to compete to make it to Kigali.”

Mandy Juruni’s charges lost 89-71 to Petro de Luanda before falling 72-70 to hosts Al Ahly. The last three games, against SLAC, Cape Town Tigers and Ferroviario da Beira, will determine whether Oilers will progress to the playoffs or focus on the National Basketball League.

The Silverbacks captain re-echoed the words of fellow guard Tonny Drileba regarding the team’s offence and ball movement.
The team’s offence runs through mainly James Justice Jr., Falando Jones and Germaine Roebuck Jr. The trio has scored the most in the first two games and will have to do even more to get the Oilers over the line.
“We are working towards playing better. We need to obviously share the ball more, have more players involved on the offensive end, pick each other up, and I think we’ll be good to go,” Enabu noted.
