According to the foundation, Sam Oguche said all is set to host this year's event.

“We took into consideration all national and even international events billed for March before settling for March 14. You know we had planned for February but had to move it forward as we didn’t want teams traveling in between the election dates.

“There was the National Youth Games also planned for Asaba, but all that has been taken care of. We hope to give the players the quality competition they deserve and it is all worked out now,” Oguche said.

The winner will go home with 2 million

Oguche added that the overall champion will now receive N2 million in prize money, up from the N1 million awarded in the previous edition, which was held in Lagos in November, according to Oguche.

“The Lagos event though was held for the men's and women’s teams. The improved package means the runners-up will get N1 million and the third-placed team will earn N500k," he said

Kwara Falcons and First Bank won the men's and women's trophies in the last edition.
