Anthony Joshua suspended from boxing after knockout loss to Daniel Dubois
Dropped in the Ring Magazine heavyweight rankings, Anthony will not be able to fight for a while after a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois.
Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has announced when the 35-year-old will resume fighting, despite some people calling for him to hang up his gloves.
After losing to Oleksandr Usyk in 2021, the London 2012 gold winner lost his heavyweight belts for the second time and was unable to win them back in the rematch.
February too soon for Anthony Joshua
Following lackluster showings against Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius, Joshua decided to hire a fifth trainer in as many years, this time under Ben Davison, Tyson Fury's former cornerman.
Though there were concerns that Joshua's dominance was ending, Davison managed to bring out the best in Joshua, and the two quickly turned things around with convincing knockout victories over Francis Ngannou and Otto Wallin, setting up "AJ" for a challenge to Daniel Dubois for the IBF heavyweight title.
Regardless of the lopsided thrashing, Anthony Joshua and Eddie Hearn have remained interested in a quick rematch with Dubois in the weeks following that devastating September loss.
However, because of injuries he incurred in their first fight, the two-time champion has been officially ruled out, and the February 22nd date has come too soon.
For Joshua's comeback, the much-anticipated bout with Tyson Fury will continue to be a lucrative proposition and may be in the cards if "The Gypsy King" loses to Oleksandr Usyk for the second time in a row next month.
